What if our conversations could help solve the problems we can't solve alone?

Letters is an experiment in using correspondence to explore difficult questions, discover what people really disagree about, and see what ideas emerge when many conversations are brought together.

It started with a question: could ordinary conversations contribute to something as ambitious as peace?

The conversation comes first.

You don't start with a survey or a list of questions.

You write.

You think.

Someone responds.

The conversation develops naturally.

And over time, something larger can emerge.

One conversation can be interesting. Many conversations can reveal something new.

A single conversation can tell us what one person thinks.

A collection of conversations can reveal recurring ideas, unexpected disagreements, shared problems, emerging solutions and questions that nobody explicitly asked.

This is the fundamental reason Letters exists.

  1. Your letter
  2. Your conversation
  3. Many conversations
  4. Patterns
  5. Questions
  6. Ideas
  7. New connections

Write

Explore something you genuinely want to understand through a real letter conversation.

Discover

As conversations accumulate, see what is emerging across them: patterns, tensions, ideas, unresolved questions and unexpected connections.

Connect

Find people thinking about related questions — not simply people who picked the same hobbies.

The story of Letters

It started with a question.

Could conversations between ordinary people contribute to solving the problems that divide us?

The idea was to combine the depth of correspondence with the ability to learn from many conversations at once.

But Letters is not designed to prove that this idea is right. It is designed to explore what happens when people actually try it.

  1. The idea
  2. The experiment
  3. The conversations
  4. What we discover

AI is the observer, not the author.

It doesn't tell you what to think or steer where a conversation goes. It quietly looks across conversations and helps reveal what is emerging:

  • recurring ideas
  • disagreements
  • unresolved questions
  • possible solutions
  • unexpected connections

What could emerge if enough people took part?

Maybe we would discover that some problems are easier to understand than we thought.

Maybe we would discover that we have been asking the wrong questions.

Maybe people would find solutions that would never have emerged from isolated conversations.

Or maybe we would discover that conversation alone isn't enough.

That's part of what Letters is trying to find out.

Start with one conversation.

Write something you genuinely want to explore.
